THE POTTY TRAINING DIARIES

MONDAY 17 OCT: DAY 1

We decided, during our research of potty training, to approach this very gently and to be led by him. We're giving him 'no-nappy time' every evening for the next few days just to get used to using the potty and the feeling of not wearing a nappy. And then plan to go hard in the 'no nappy, just pants' scenario during half term week.

Tonight there were no wees in the potty. But there were three on the floor. Yay. I thought he'd be a bit more into the potty as he loves new things and easily gets obsessed about anything that's different. But it was only night one... let's see how tomorrow goes. I am getting myself ready for that victory dance around the potty once he's done a full wee in it (purely just to encourage him him into doing it again #daddancing)

TUESDAY 18 OCT: DAY 2

No wee wee in the potty tonight. None on the floor either. Maybe he didn't drink enough today? Hmm...

WEDNESDAY 19 OCT: DAY 3

Three wees on the floor whilst wearing pants this evening. He's really not happy about being shown the potty or sitting on it. I actually think it's too small for him. So we need to look at a bigger one and also maybe think about a children's seat for the actual toilet? As he seems more into the loo than the potty (flushing it and saying 'bye bye' to the water). I am asking him every minute if he needs a wee... maybe i'm pissing him off? :-| I've heard you should let them have accidents so they learn how uncomfortable it feels to be wet/dirty? Thus forcing them to do the business on the potty? Lord knows!

THURSDAY 20 OCT: DAY 4

Still no potty love. We're giving this attempt at training until tomorrow.

FRIDAY 21 OCT: DAY 5

OK. He's just not ready yet. And that's fine. We tried. Maybe we need to get a more comfortable potty that can fit all of his 'bits' in and try again next month...

What worked for you? Shall we try again in a few weeks? A month or two? I have hard that training the second time around tends to be when the success happens...
